Vietnam-Netherlands cooperation in inspection field
Under the framework of the Programme on Strengthening Comprehensive Capacity of the Inspectorate System (POSCIS) to the year 2010 between the Netherlands and some other countries with Vietnam, the Government Inspector-General, H.E. Mr. Tran Van Truyen led a high level delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on 6th to 9th June 2007. The Vietnamese delegation had working meetings with H.E. Mr. Alex Brenninkmeijer, the National Ombudsman, and high level representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Development Cooperation, Anti-corruption Task Force of the Government, Netherlands Court of Audit and Amsterdam Integrity Agency.
Mr. Tran Van Truyen briefed his counterparts on the Vietnam Government views on inspection during the process of administrative reform, efforts to build a sound and strong government apparatus, Government’s endeavors to prevent and combat corruption. The Inspector-General highly appreciated the assistance extended by the Netherlands and wished to further cooperation with the Netherlands in the future, especially in the field of information-experience exchange and inspectors training.
During the discussions, the Netherlands side highly evaluated Vietnam’s recent efforts and achievements in preventing and fighting corruption as well as in the process of administrative reform. They also shared their experience on good governance, public management, enhancing the integrity of public servants, budget management of ministries, relations between governmental authorities and citizens, resolutions of citizen’s complaints, inspection work, roles of the central and local authorities of the Netherlands in the anti-corruption endeavours. The Netherlands side expressed their willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation between two countries in general and in the corruption prevention and fight, and to support Vietnam in this field.
Inspector-General Mr. Tran Van Truyen also extended his kind invitation to the National Ombudsman H.E. Mr. Alex Brenninkmeijer to visit Vietnam for further understanding and cooperation between the two inspection offices. Mr. Brenninkmeijer accepted the invitation to visit the country in the near future.
This is the first visit by a Vietnamese Inspector-General to the Netherlands as an effort to enhance bilateral relations, understanding and cooperation between inspection offices of Vietnam and the Netherlands. All the official functions were attended by H.E. Mr. Ha Huy Thong, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Netherlands./.
